The upcoming Texas Citizen Planner Program is a 6-session training course for local, appointed officials, and other planning-related professionals.

This program will cover planning concepts every local official needs to know, including:

  1. Planning topics and trends for a positive community vision and quality of life
  2. How to use planning tools to improve development
  3. Legal and technical aspects of planning

  • April 23, 2025 – Introduction to Planning
  • April 30, 2025 – Implementing Green Infrastructure
  • May 7, 2025 – Keynote Address and Contemporary Issues in Planning
  • May 14, 2025 – Resilience and Planning Implementation
  • May 21, 2025 – Legal Foundations of Planning
  • May 28, 2025 – Scenario Planning/CHARM Exercise

Available Continuing Education Credits (CEUs):

  • 1.5  CEUs – Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM)  through The Association of State Floodplain Managers, Inc. (ASFPM) for the May 14, 2025 class session.
  • AICP credits: 1.5 CM from the American Planning Association for each session (9 CM in total)
