Is this a recurring program?

The physical courses are a one-time program this year. As resources become available, we may be able to offer additional Citizen Planner Courses in the future. Online courses are anticipated for late Summer in 2017.

Who should attend this training program?

Locally elected and appointed officials such as mayors, council members, planning commission members, municipal department and agency staff, MUD executives and staff, and members of various municipal boards (Parks, Zoning, etc). Registration is open to all members of the public, including neighborhood groups, community organizations and civic associations.

I’m a local official. Shouldn’t my planning staff attend instead of me?

This training is specifically for municipal leadership and officials. Many of you have tremendous responsibility for enacting ordinances, approving development proposals presented before the city, and undertaking planning initiatives. The course is designed to help local officials understand how these activities support each other to build great communities.
